Edison CIBACS take student-planned trip to Boston

Edison High School’s Center for International Business and Communication Studies (CIBACS) students and staff just returned from a trip to Boston, Massachusetts! Their itinerary included visits to Harvard, The Freedom Trail, and Fenway Park. Each senior student is expected to undertake a project of considerable significance. Riley Hilbert, CIBACS senior at Edison, planned the entire trip for 33 students and four teachers. She also coordinated meetings with prominent industry leaders and with former Governor, Michael Dukakis. This trip was certainly a learning experience of a lifetime for HBUHSD students.

Edison’s CIBACS is a unique program that offers students an enriched and integrated curriculum that is enhanced through competitive projects, job shadowing, and internships with business partners in our community.

Students are taught to access, interpret and employ verbal, nonverbal, and electronic sources of information. They learn to work effectively in a team and are sensitive to needs, problems, aspirations and customs of other cultures.

This program is integrated into the English and Social Studies classes throughout all 4 years of high school. Upon completion, students will earn two Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways, one in marketing and another in entrepreneurship. Each student is challenged to create a portfolio highlighting his or her considerable skills and achievements.

Clearly, CIBACS produces high school graduates who meet the employability requirements for tomorrow’s high tech, international business environment.
