Edison Pool Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting

This week, Edison High School celebrated the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of their new pool. Construction on this project started in March of 2021 and was officially completed earlier this month. Girls Waterpolo have had the opportunity to "get their feet wet" in the new pool as they competed through CIF playoffs and made it to the final round.

This new larger pool replaces two older smaller pools that have served the school since its original opening in 1969. 25 yards wide and 40 meters long, this facility allows for up to 10 lanes of competitive swimming and regulation water polo. The pool also has an accessible ramp, wheelchair access, stairs, and shallow area for aqua therapy to help support the school's Special Abilities Cluster (SAC).

Edison Assistant Principal, Joe Loomis who oversees the SAC program notes that, "we are excited about the pool's new, unique features that will accomodate our students with physical disabilities. It will allow us to host Unified Sports and Special Olympic events on our campus."

The Edison Charger Aquatic Foundation NPO was recognized for their generous contributions of $75,000 towards this development. Thank you to the HBUHSD Board of Trustees, Administration, Edison staff and students for their support throughout the entire project. 15 years worth of fundraising efforts make this moment truly special for Edison athletics.
