Ocean View High School Celebrates Opening of Student WellSpace

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Yesterday, Ocean View High School (OVHS) officially opened its brand new student WellSpace.

This newly revamped space, called The Well Nest, will be an essential part of Ocean View High School’s campus, providing students with a sanctuary for mental health support, wellness resources, and relaxation. Exclusively for students, the area features dim lighting with string lights around the room, soothing music, and calming activities like mindful coloring, kinetic sand, and puzzles. OVHS’s Mental Health Specialist is also based within The Well Nest, offering guidance and support to those who need it.

OVHS Principal Robert Rasmussen shared, “We are super excited to unveil our Well Nest! Ocean View High School is committed to providing students with an amazing academic experience while teaching them the importance of balance and the tools of self-regulation. The Well Nest will play an important role in our schoolwide Multi-Tiers of Student Support (MTSS).”

The opening of The Well Nest was made possible by the amazing support and partnership from Cal Optima, the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE), and the CHOC Foundation.

“We are thrilled to open up The Well Nest here at OVHS to provide students with a safe and supportive environment to regulate their emotions and practice essential coping skills,” explained OVHS Mental Health Specialist Johnny Pinto. “The Well Nest fosters emotional resilience, empowering students to navigate academic and personal challenges more confidently. By prioritizing mental wellness, we can create a community where students can thrive both in and out of the classroom.”

The Huntington Beach Union High School District is so excited for OVHS to open their WellSpace on campus where they will be able to promote positive mental health and overall well-being to students.
