Fountain Valley High School Announces Mitch Olson as Head Football Coach HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Fountain Valley High School (FVHS) is thrilled to announce Mitch Olson as the new head football coach, pending board approval. With over 30 years of head football coaching experience and 16 years as an athletic director, Mitch Olson joins the Baron staff ready and eager to head the FVHS football program. Under Olson’s steadfast and compassionate leadership, he has continually led his teams to success, including one CIF championship, six CIF semifinal appearances, 12 CIF quarterfinal appearances, 18 CIF playoff appearances, and eight league championships. Olson's positive impacts and accomplishments as a coach are seen through being awarded Coach of the Year seven times in the Empire League, and CIF Coach of the Year in 2006. Olson’s leadership and dedication to his teams stemmed from his time personally as a student-athlete, where he competed in football, baseball, and basketball. At Los Alamitos High School, he earned seven Varsity letters, being named five-time All-League athlete and five-time team captain. In college, Olson was named two-year MVP in football, four-time All-League, and three-year team captain. He then was drafted by the Chicago White Sox and played professional baseball for two years before getting his teaching credential and beginning his teaching and head coaching career. Mitch Olson shared, “I’m really excited to be here and excited about the possibilities of what Fountain Valley High School has to offer. I can’t wait to work with the young men and do some good things on and off the field.” “We are thrilled to welcome Coach Mitch Olson as our new head football coach!” exclaimed FVHS Principal Paul Lopez. “With a wealth of experience, a proven track record of championship success, and an exceptional ability to build and elevate football programs, we are confident that Coach Olson will lead our team to new heights.
