Collaboration and authentic voice were two important aspects of staff and stakeholder meetings this week at Marina and Fountain Valley High Schools.

Both of the schools will have a new principal as they begin the 2015-16 school year. Dr. Paul Morrow, of Marina, will retire from a successful career as a school leader this June. Fountain Valley saw their long-time principal Mr. Chris Herzfeld transition to a new principalship in his hometown Laguna Beach.

This week, school site stakeholders were invited to share their thoughts on what personal skills and attributes would be most important in a leader at their school. The multiple sessions allowed team members to share what they were most proud of in their school culture and achievement, and how a new principal could best support their continued efforts.

Both principal positions are currently being advertised across California, and interviews are being planned for April.
