Welcome, Dr. Smith! Dr. Smith earned his B.A. in Art Education at California State University, Long Beach. After college, he began his teaching career at Marina High School as an Art and Computer Graphics teacher, eventually transitioning to Newport Mesa USD as a Digital Art and Animation teacher. He also served as a Staff Development and Technology Coordinator at the high school level while teaching several after-school Career and Technical Education courses for high school students across the district. Dr. Smith then earned his M.A. in Educational Administration from Alliant International University and then became an assistant principal at Costa Mesa High School. Soon after, he earned his Doctorate at USC and then served as the Principal of Dwyer Middle School in the Huntington Beach City School District for five years prior to becoming the new Fountain Valley High School Principal.
