Edison student recognized for original cancer research essay To receive this recognition, Gus submitted an original essay on the importance of cancer research and was selected from a pool of nearly 1,200 10th and 11th grade students from across the country who are also passionate about pursuing a career in science. In conjunction with Bristol-Myers Squibb, Genentech, and Novartis, PBS LearningMedia and Stand Up To Cancer chose 100 students to receive this award. For his hard work, Gus will receive a Google Chromebook, $1,500, and the opportunity to work alongside professionals from the medical field on a multi-week cancer research project.
