Fountain Valley students take 2nd place in C-SPAN video contest

After months of planning, researching, filming, and editing, their hard work paid off in the form of a $1,500 scholarship from C-SPAN.  Their video, Autism is a Journey, Not a Sentence,” was selected in the top 21 videos out of over 2,500 entries from 6,000 students all over the world.

Each year, C-SPAN, a public service political television provider, hosts the StudentCam contest – a competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect our communities and nation.  This year, students were asked to create a short (5-7 minutes) video documentary on a topic related to the theme, “Road to the White House,” and the issue they most want candidates to discuss during this year’s presidential campaign.

Throughout their 7-minute video, Leah and Justin interview medical professionals, examine the growing statistics surrounding autistic disorders, discuss money allocated to support systems, and more.
