District celebrates classified employees at annual banquet On a day-to-day basis, classified employees serve students throughout school district’s in numerous ways -- as a bus driver safely transporting a class on a field trip, an accountant responsibly tracking fiscal resources, or a food services employee ensuring healthy lunch options, they are essential to organization and student success. To celebrate the night, district personnel were in attendance including Board of Trustees members, Superintendent Greg Plutko, Deputy Superintendent Carolee Ogata, cabinet members, school site administrators, the Personnel Commission, and over 175 classified employees. Following dinner, individuals were recognized for their continuous years of service, decision to retire with the district, and for being named a school site Employee of the Year. Additionally, Superintendent Plutko honored Connor King (pictured, top), an Instructional Aide at Fountain Valley High School (FVHS), as this year’s district-wide Employee of the Year. As this news was announced, Connor’s FVHS Baron co-workers erupted in cheers and applause, clearly justifying this recognition. As the celebratory night came to a conclusion, the true devotion that each and every employee have for their distinct jobs, their school district, and for improving HBUHSD student’s learning environment and quality of education, was distinctly apparent.
