Teacher Strand (5 days)
Each year, schools in HBUHSD will select a small cohort of teachers to attend the full five-day series for initial CM Teacher Training. The training will typically be scheduled during the school day by sub release. The goal of our multi-year PD plan is for all teachers to be trained in CM strategies.

Returning CM Trained Teachers Only - CM Summer Seminar: Once a teacher completed the initial 5-day training series, they will have an opportunity to participate in the Summer Seminar. This intensive week-long summer program will build upon previous training. During the seminar, teacher leaders learn to support others in designing, refining, and delivering instruction, and to facilitate ongoing learning and collaboration sessions. The goal is for participants to gain a deeper knowledge of the initiative so they can support colleagues in building their Refining Our Practice skills and applying the vision of explicit language instruction. Every participant who completes the week-long training will be a “Certified Leader.”

Instructional Leadership Strand - Principal and Assistant Principals
District leaders, principals, and coaches responsible for implementation have additional sessions set aside for honing observation and facilitation skills, problem-solving, and establishing processes that ensure English learners receive adequate and appropriate language instruction. Instructional leaders gain straightforward tools to design, support, monitor, and evaluate the level and quality of English learner program implementation and student achievement.
