The vision for the district school libraries is based on the American Library Association and California School Library Associations standard guidelines of ensuring that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information; students are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
The Huntington Beach Union High School District is comprised of six traditional high schools and three alternative high schools.
