The interdistrict transfer process applies to families who live outside of the Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD) boundary lines but wish to have their child attend a school within HBUHSD. All interdistrict requests must be initiated in the district of residence. An approved interdistrict agreement must be in effect between the district of residence and HBUHSD before a student can attend their desired school within HBUHSD.

If you reside outside of the HBUHSD boundaries and wish for your student to be considered for enrollment in one of our six high schools (Edison, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Marina, Ocean View, Westminster), you must first be released from your district of residence by obtaining an approved Interdistrict Attendance Agreement.

Note: The Interdistrict Attendance Agreement must be obtained from your district of residence.

For families residing in the HBUHSD boundaries who are requesting to attend schools in another district, please fill out the online Interdistrict Attendance Agreement form to be released from HBUHSD. Please be prepared to provide verification of identity in a supplemental attachment as the student's parent, licensed foster agency, group home representative, or California Superior Court-appointed legal guardian.  

To apply for an outgoing Interdistrict Attendance Agreement release from the Huntington Beach Union High School District, please apply here. Once approved, a completed Interdistrict Attendance Agreement will be sent to the email address provided. Please be sure to submit the approved HBUHSD release to the district of desired attendance.
