Congratulations to the Edison High School (EHS) varsity boys basketball team and head coach, Rich Boyce, for advancing to the CIF Southern Section Division 2AA Championship game, this Saturday, March 5. The boys will take on the Ruben S. Ayala High School Bulldogs at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA with tip-off at 8:30 p.m.

On Feb. 23, the Orange County Register released an article highlighting the Marina High School (MHS) robotics club, Team 4276.

On Feb. 17, Huntington Beach High School (HBHS) hosted staff from around the district for Tech Fest, an annual gathering where educators learn about “tech” being used in the classroom.

On Feb. 19, the Orange County Register released its third annual Varsity Arts Artist of the Year award nominees.  Teachers from around the county nominated a total of 391 student artists from 74 high schools in the categories of theater, dance, vocal music, instrumental music, visual arts and film.

Congratulations to Edison High School (EHS) student Gus Weiss, for being selected as a winner of the Emperor Science Award program – an initiative designed to encourage high school students to explore careers in science, specifically cancer research and care, through mentoring opportunities.

On Feb. 12, Ocean View High School (OVHS) seniors, Laura Chavez and Vanessa Moran were each awarded a $5,000 scholarship from Girls Inc., a program that exists to educate girls in being strong, smart, and bold individuals.

The Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts (HBAPA) Music Media and Entertainment Technology (MMET) students recently produced a 12-track CD titled, "Playlist 2016: The Originals."

On Feb. 3, student-athletes throughout the Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD) participated in National Signing Day. At Huntington Beach High School (HBHS), 34 seniors signed their letters of intent to continue with athletics at the collegiate level -- this being a record-breaking number for the school.

On Jan. 29, the Orange County Register released an article highlighting Fountain Valley High School (FVHS) English Literature teacher, David Theriault, and his inventive use of technology as an educator.

On Feb. 6, last year's champions, Westminster High School (WHS) will host more than 500 students from 43 local high schools for the 48th annual Orange County Academic Decathlon (OCAD).
